Dr. Sanjayadeve de Silva Munasinghe, Chairman, Pathe Academy, said that this road to study medicine is open after following a degree programme in Psychology offered by the Academy, through its principals LPU. “This degree in Psychology provided by LPU through Pathe automatically opens the doors to study medicine at Medical Universities across the globe. Especially in Philippines with 2 years exemption where you can finish your medical degree in exactly 4 years,” he said.

This would make a total of six years, ie from entering PATHE at 18 years after finishing the A/Ls, to follow a two year Psychology degree programme offered by LPU as a first step, and lastly, an automatic admission to Philippines medical schools upon completing the Psychology degree programme to complete one’s Doctor of Medicine degree in a four year degree programme.

Munasinghe said that the minimum entry requirement for the Psychology degree is five credits in the GCE O/L, inclusive of a credit in mathematics. The total programme is 2 years for those with GCE AL and 3 years for those with GCE OL. We also have other degree programmes in Psychology offered by Russian Universities where It’s not compulsory to have a pass in English to follow this degree programme. “English will be taught to students at Pathe itself, ie for those who find it difficult to understand the language, that opportunity is also there for such,” said Munasinghe.
